MAYERCRAFT 2 - AUDIO FILES, NEW SONGS, SOUND CHECK & ONE SPECIAL GUITAR
Well, it's in his hands now. John is the rightful new owner of the Heritage Le Mans JM Strat. Judy and I brought it on board the Mayercraft 2 this past weekend and it was quite an experience. I did not do the usual running around from set to set taking pictures of every possible act. The exciting part for us was the sound check party on the 28th. There was an open sound check for people who had attended the One Splendid Evening show, which was approximately 750 peeps. I figured it was a more casual setting and it might be a better opportunity than any other. We sat in the 6 or 7th row stage right as John and his merry men played 5 or so full songs including Crossroads, etc etc.
I kept running through my mind of how I would present the guitar to him, what would I say?, how would I approach it? I didn't want to come off as if I wanted him to sign it (because I didn't - not being my bag). I did at least want him to play it. But I really didn't know what to expect. Over the course of the last 7 months I have had it, many have asked, "what if he wants it?" My reply was usually, "I would trade him for one of his!" But I never thought that would really be an option
Well, when the sound check was over a few fans rushed the stage. I grabbed the guitar and walked up to the foot of the stage as John turned back in my direction. I held it up and yelled, "John". His face fell, jaw wide open, in genuine excitement waves me up on the stage and asks, "Are you giving this to me?" What was I gonna say? "No"??? So I say "YES" in my excitement and further discussed the details of the guitar. He said we needed to take a picture.

I motioned for Judy to come up because she had the camera. People had gathered around and were snapping photos. People were screaming for John to play it! Unbeknownst to me, some other girl now affectionately nicknamed "the fluffy wife" had jumped up and took a few pics as Judy was trying to make her way through.
Realizing what was going on, John leans over to me and asks, "Do you know this person to my right?" I look over and said, "nope" as Judy respectfully yet forcefully moves her out of the way. John says to her, "do you know each other?" The fluffy wife in desperation to stay says, "no, but we can!!!". We all laughed at that point. As John took the guitar, he says "Man, I am gonna hook you up. I'm gonna give you one of my guitars. We'll trade." At that, I had 2 reactions, externally I said calmly, "cool, that would be sweet" while internally it was more like, "YES!" jumping up and down and doing backflips!!! He called over one of the production guys and I filled out all my info.

Not sure what he has in mind but one of the 83 masterbuilt "Black One" would be the greatest guitar in my collection and I have quite a few (Monterey Pop strat, Crossroads strat, Irish Falcon, Goldleaf Clapton, Townsend SG amoung others). Turns out we traded after all. Thanks John, I hope you enjoy the guitar as much as I did making it. I would love to see you play it one day. That would really make it complete!
cheers!

Half of my Heart Lyrics
I was born in the arms of imaginary friends
Free to roam, made a home out of everywhere I've been
Then you come crashing in
Like the realest thing
Trying my best to understand all that your love can bring
Oh, half of my heart's got a grip on the situation
Half of my heart takes time
Half of my heart's got the right mind to tell you that I cant keep loving you
Oh, half of my heart
I was made to believe I'd never love somebody else
I made a plan, stayed the man who can only love himself
Lonely was the song I sang
'Til the day you came
Showing me a better way and all that my love can bring
Oh, half of my heart's got a grip on the situation
Half of my heart takes time
Half of my heart's got the right mind to tell you that I cant keep loving you
Oh, half of my heart
with half of my heart
Your faith is strong
But I can only fall so far so long
Time to hold, later on
You will hate that I never gave more to you
than half of my heart
But I can't stop loving you
But I can't stop loving you
But I can't stop loving you
With half of my, half of my heart
Oh, half of my heart
Half of my heart's got a real good imagination
Half of my heart's got you
Half of my heart's got a right mind to tell you
That half of my heart won't do
Half of my heart is a shotgun wedding to a bride with a paper ring
Half of my heart is the part of a man who's never really loved anything
Oh, half of my heart
Oh, half of my heart
Half of my heart
Oh, half of my heart
Half of my heart
Oh, half of my heart
Half of my heart
Heartbreak Warfare Lyrics
Lighting strikes inside
The chance to keep me up at night
Dream of ways to make you want to stay in my room
Clouds of sulfur in the air
Bombs are falling everywhere
It's heartbreak warfare
Once you want it to begin
No one really ever wins
In heartbreak warfare
If you want more love
why don't you say so
If you want more love
why don't you say so
...
If she really trusts the ...
Watch my face
As I attempt to feel no pain
Clouds of sulfar in the air
Bombs are falling everywhere
It's heartbreak warfare
Once you want it to begin
No one really ever wins
In heartbeak warfare
If you want more love
Why don't you say so
If you want more love
Why don't you say so
Just say so
How come the only way you know
How hard to hit me
Is to see how far I fall
God only knows how much
I'd love you if you let me
But I can't break free at all
It's heart, heartbreak
I don't care if we don't sleep at all tonight
Let's just just fix this whole thing now
I swear to god we're going to figure out
If you put your weapons down
... in the air
Your ... is shaking
It's heartbreak warfare
Good to know it's only me
Disappointed eyes that mean
It's heartbreak, heartbreak
It's heartbreak warfare
It's heartbreak warfare

Erik, my youngest brother Reagan gave me a CD way back before John Mayer was so well known. He had picked it up for $5 bucks as he was a nobody player at the time. As soon as I heard John's style, I fell in love with his music. I knew he would become what he is today!
I pray that guitar's sound is so sweet to John's ear that he not only plays it once, but that it becomes his favorite guitar.
One day I will be able to see him live! Taylor is just starting to enjoy his guitar lessons, but his memory span is short so that is a frustration for him.
Erik and Judy, you both are amazing people... we love you guys dearly! And miss you
Lynne

Man, great story, how cool would that be for John too to just have someone come up and give him a great guitar. You rule.
