REVIEW: NIN / JANE'S ADDICTION ROCKS CHULA VISTA, PHOTOS, VIDEO AND PODCAST

NIN/JA - anything less than wow, incredible, amazing, energizing, awesome would be doing this show an injustice.  It was a high-energy kick in the arse that had you walking out feeling euphoric from a 3 1/2 hour rock and roll cardio workout.  They might as well have removed all the seats from the venue because they were not being used.  Trent Reznor's Nine Inch Nails shot a syringe full of adrenaline straight into your chest cavity like Jack Bauer returning from the dead.  The energy was so intense that the sound / av guy forgot to turn on the big screens for the first 3/4 of the show (sorry if you were trying to see anything from the lawn).  Trent's performance was especially great in a destructive sort of way.  Throwing the mic stand and later his Les Paul in true Who fashion.

Perry, Dave, Eric, and Stephen then took the stage - further erupting the crowd to higher levels of energy as if that were even possible.  The set opened with a video clip of Kevin Bacon having a discussion with a boy noticing the cap he was wearing and commenting on how it it would have been to see Jane's prior to the breakup.  It was even cooler to be able to see them back together rocking some of the very songs that stitched the summer backyard parties together back in the day.  Despite the rumors that Perry wouldn't be jumping around much due to injury - that was definitely not the case.  He was in true form - jumping off monitors and the drum riser while utilizing the full stage.  Dave provided the face-melting guitar solos and his performance did not leave you wanting - - well, except wanting him maybe.  Eric provided the soul-resonating bass lines that are still reverberating through my cerebral cortex - and that's not a bad thing.  Wearing either black fruit of the looms or a kilt, Stephen rock the drums harder than Animal yet with the precision of a surgeon.   Enough said. Listen and see for yourself.
