Los Angeles, CA - Live from Nokia Theater and my Twitter feed, the top 13 cast performs, the usual commercial break and how do you string a decision along for a whole 2 hours to get as many ad dollars as you can? This is how, by having David Cook perform and he was good.
    Then do the Golden Idol awards and do what Idol does best by making fun of people who think they can sing but shouldn't quit their day jobs.  The award goes to Norman Gentle, got to love the red wrist bands.  Then have Queen Latifa perform in a one piece Lycra jumpsuit — this is what Depeche Mode's new song is about "Wrong".  And wait is that Jason Mraz? Did he have to sing with the finalist cast?  
    Kris then performs with Keith Urban - got to appeal to the country fans, I wonder how many country fans watched this year missing the Underwood factor?  Speaking of girls, the finalist cast of girls is joined by Fergie (who wins the fashion award thus far) who then is joined by the Black Eyed Peas.
    Ok - have we seen enough yet? Can we get on with the gettin' on? Who wins already?!  Did someone change the channel to the Tropicana bikini contest? I thought I was watching American Idol.  Kara can sing but why with the bikini girl, Katrina Darrell? Was it the final showdown to put to rest the cat fight between the 2? If so, I'd say Kara won.  Let's hope Adam doesn't come out wearing one of those.
    Allison duets with Cindi Lauper - happy they are wearing clothes.  Is it just me or does Danny Gokey look a little like Robert Downey Jr?  Good stuff Danny. He is accompanied by Lionel Richie.  Lambert's trench coat fits Richie better I think.  How old is that guy? Can you spell HGH?  Good performance none the less.
    So Adam, wearing something out of the movie Dune, is joined by none other than KISS! Really? KISS on the AI stage? First Slash now KISS? The performance of "I wanna Rock & Roll" was quite good - Paul Moabdeeb is calling and wants his outfit back.  At least it wasn't the bikini - whew.
    And now Santana? Did the cool factor for American Idol just go up? Wait a minute, (thinks out loud to self - it's a recession, artist need money, American Idol has money) how much are they paying these guys to up the Idol cool factor?  Hey they paid Prince $4M to play Coachella so why not - - - Carlos is still the man! Rock On!
    Who knew Steve Martin had a band? Rock on with your Banjo-self!  All that and funny too.  Hey Steve, the Oscars just called and said you can never host the show again but wish you luck with the new music career.  And mentioned something about sending "pretty flowers"?
    The boys get their turn - and are joined on stage by Rod Stewart, nice plaid jacket by the way Rod. "If you think I'm . . ."  Apparently they don't and you scared them off the stage.  You know it is time to hang it up when Idol finalists don't want to perform with you.  Ouch.
    Ok let's get down to the business which we came here for.  Kris and Adam perform one final time on the Idol stage before we say good bye to season 8 and crown the victor.  A vocal duet of "We Are the Champions" along with Queen guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor.  The wife has been suggesting Adam sing Queen through out the finals and she was right he was perfect for that. The wife aka Judy rocks!

And now after 3 rounds of vocal battling, almost 100 million votes (new record) and a million minutes of commercials (someone has to pay all these great artists),  the unanimous decision and new American Idol champion is . . .
