UPDATE: AEROSMITH'S ROCK AND ROLL DIVORCE: PERRY AND BAND LOOKING FOR NEW SINGER?! OR NOT?

Update - According to sources at Billboard, Steven Tyler himself said that he is not quiting Aerosmith.  An excerpt from the story read, "Tyler joined Perry and his Project for an encore version of "Walk This Way." Before the song he told the crowd that "I am not leaving Aerosmith" and told Perry "you are a man of many colors, but I am the motherf—king rainbow!" — So there you have it.  The Tyler Perry Bromance is back on . . . for now.

Los Angeles, CA - One of Rocks biggest acts is going through a divorce, or already has apparently. The bromance is over.   According to Joe Perry's tweets (@AdmiralPerry) he says, " Aerosmith is definitely NOT breaking up. One of the members is doing his own thing and said so in the press. That's all I know."  So one could extrapolate from that statement that maybe Steven does a side solo project but essentially they are still good right?  I mean come on, who is going to replace Steven Tyler?

Well ask Neil Schon of Journey who could replace Steve Perry and retain the Journey sound? Enter one Arnel Pineda via Youtube sounding EXACTLY like him.  But that can;t really be happening can it?  They have been together for over 40 years.  They are like bitter grandparents who stay together because of the history and they are the best option for each other. Right?

Well,  Joe later tweets, " In the meantime Aerosmith is positively looking for a new singer to work with. You just can't take 40 years of experience and throw it in the bin!"  So the divorce between the band and Tyler seems to be final.  So apparently when Steven had fallen couldn't get up, not only did it end the show but it ended Aerosmith as we know it.  Was he upset that Joe didn't come to his rescue?  The rest of the band just watched the old guy bail without rushing to his aid?  I am sure it was a traumatic experience.  Is that why older folks split up after 50 years?

This is one of those things that you just would never expect or hope to see. Apparently, Perry learned of Tyler's departure and plans for a solo gig online - not the face-to-face discussion that you would hope out of respect for the friendship. It's strange as Perry had his own side projects too as many musicians do. So why can't Steven have a side project and continue to perform the role of front man for Aerosmith? It looks as though he is done.   According to an article from Reuters, Perry told them the Tyler flat out refused to produce a new song together for the last ten years and hung up on him the last time he called.

So if your interested in trying out and have the pipes that can scream in those ranges and on key, get your video cameras out, and post up your best Aerosmith cover, post it on YouTube, and Twitter the link, post it on your FaceBook . . . and maybe, just maybe you will be the next Aerosmith front man.  Good Luck and Rock On!
