PHOTOS AND REVIEW: THE WHO ROCKED SUPER BOWL XLIV HALFTIME SHOW

Miami, FL - The Saints took home the trophy, the down cast Colts fans crowed the check-in line to get out of town, the Who rocked their way back into the public spot light by performing their first halftime show to over 106 million viewers. If you have been following twitter or facebook the critics are out in full force.  Here are a few quotes from friends:

Robert M Knight: For me The Who are not The Who, it would be like Led Zeppelin without Bonham and JPJ

Mikal Gilmore: The Who have given the phrase The Long Goodbye the longest meaning of all.

Damon Grant: thinks the lighting director for The Who's halftime show should get a serious raise! that was pretty amazing!

Chris Kappy loves that The Who just brought it... Best Superbowl Halftime Show I have ever seen

Andy Karp Congrats to the Saints and all their fans. Now The Who just need to stop...they sound horrible
and are seriously bumming me out.

Judge for yourself, but you can't blame them for wanting to Rock and rock they did.  It may not have been their best performance but I was happy to finally see them live after 25 years of waiting.  At age 16 I begged and pleaded to see their 'Final' tour in '85 which was met with an ill-fated "NO!".  Even then it wouldn't have been the original cast since Keith Moon (one of if not the best drummer) passed away in '78 but to have seen the master bassist John Entwhistle would have been quite the experience.  The other sessions musicians that Roger and Pete rely on now are Pino Palladino on Bass (Jeff Beck, John Mayer), Zak Starkey, Ringo Starr's son, who has been with them since 1994 on drums, John Bundrick on keyboards and backup vocals, and Simon Townshend, Pete's brother, on rhythm guitar and backup vocals.  Hey, knowing that these guys are in their 60's what do you expect?  I still have respect for them and I hope I am still rockin' when I am in my 60's!  Cheers.
